Custom Floor Coating Process

By choosing RW Custom Coatings, you’ll not only be getting a high-quality product, but high-quality service. We want your experience with us to be as enjoyable and seamless as possible. Whether you’re looking for flooring solutions for your garage, commercial space or basement, we’ve got you covered.

If you’re not sure where to get started with your Gastonia custom floor coating, simply request an estimate, and we’ll take it from there to get you a flooring solution.

Getting Started

Once you have requested an estimate, you will be contacted by a member of our team to schedule an appointment.

Next, your entire floor will be evaluated to be coated. During the evaluation, our team will measure the moisture percentage, age and hardness of the concrete, any voids to be filled, and vertical surfaces to be coated (if applicable).

Once the measurements of your space have been taken, you will choose the color of the base coat and color of the ¼-inch vinyl chips to complement your existing decor or color palette. From there, the coating process can begin.

Before new flooring

The Coating Process

  • First

Your floor will be prepped for coating. This includes filling any existing cracks or foundation gaps, as well as grinding the concrete down to accelerate the bonding process. Our preparation process includes equipment coupled with OSHA-compliant dust extractors, minimizing floating silica particles.

  • Second

The surface area is thoroughly vacuumed and any door thresholds or areas of concern are sealed off from the coating installation.

  • Third

A polyurea base coat is applied to your surface then covered in excess amounts of colored vinyl chips. Any leftover chips are scraped and removed that will leave your flooring ready for the final steps.

  • Following

Following the application of your chips, the first and second polyaspartic floor coats will be applied.

  • After

After the two rounds of coating have been applied, any sealing used to protect door thresholds or areas of concern will be removed.

And, just like that — you have a beautiful and newly coated floor! Belongings can be returned to the space within 24 hours and cars can be placed back in the garage after 48 hours.
